My Beloved speaks.... 🥰🙏🏽

We often say, “God said this to me”. I am not sure about you, but I have heard God speaking so many times in my life, however, I still doubt His voice. There are times when I know that I know it is God speaking to me, but I still hesitate. I am afraid if I am hearing myself or ‘making that up’ on my own. Sometimes I plead with God – please show me a sign that it is from you God! He is so very patient with me to continue to pursue me and speak to my heart. Because, more than my own self, He knows that I cannot exist without His ever-present help and guidance over my life. God longs to speak to us and hear from us. When I read Song of Songs, I am amazed that the King of all kings calls me ‘beautiful’; that He desires to spend time with me; that He says – ‘with one glance of your eyes, you captured my heart’ (Songs 4:9) But at times, I continue to walk around in a posture of shame and doubt because of something someone spoke over me in the past. The enemy brings doubt, so that I don’t move forward in the victory God has placed for me. God will never shame us. He will never say you are not good enough. He may ask you to wait or say that something is not in His will for you, but never that you are not good enough. So, if you ever feel shame, - that it steals, kills and destroys your soul, it is not from the God of all creation who loves you more than anyone else in the world. The book of James teaches us to ask for wisdom. So, I ask for wisdom to discern the enemy’s voice and my own voice so that I do not let these noises sound louder than what the Holy Spirit speaks over my life.

Radio and television stations transmit twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week; but we only hear them when we turn it on and tune in. Failure to hear the signal doesn’t mean the station isn’t transmitting. Likewise, God is constantly transmitting His voice to His sheep, but few are turned on and tuned in. Most of us are busy pleading with God in prayer that we fail to listen, we fail to hear God’s voice above our own. What is the typical answer to the question, “How are you?” Many of us probably answer something about being very busy. All of us seem to be busier than ever, and that’s one of the BIG reasons we don’t hear the voice of the Lord better. Our lives are noisy, and our heads are filled with so many voices screaming for attention and influence. So how do we receive clear guidance from God for our everyday lives?

According to Jesus, we are his sheep, the flock of his pasture. John 10 - expands on this wonderful theme. As Jesus’s sheep, we should be able to listen to his voice and follow him because we clearly recognize his voice. “The gatekeeper opens the gate for [Jesus], and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice” (John 10:3–4, “But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice” (John 10:5).

But what about our voices? How can we be sure we are not hearing our own thoughts? In 2 Corinthians, Paul suggests that we can also take authority over our own thoughts to make them obedient to Christ. “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:3–5).

Hearing God speak is not a myth. God always spoke to His people both in Old and New testament and He has not stopped to speak just because the bible times have ended. May we learn to tune our ears to the frequency of His voice, to recognize the Shepherd’s voice and to discern the enemy’s and our own noise. May my life be consumed in the love and desire towards My Savior and may I dwell in the shelter of the Most High, in the shadow of the Almighty and allow Him to imprint his character in me. May I silence all noises around and be yearning to hear His voice when He speaks.
