Come 🤲🏽 Holy Spirit 🕊

I can honestly say that The Holy Spirit has been the closest friend to me since the day I gave my life to Jesus and truly desired and asked Him to come into my heart. I clearly remember the day I did this so many, many years ago. As life happened, there has been times I consciously walked away from hearing his voice and made choices knowing fully well that I am not staying in the center of His will. But as I mentioned earlier, he remained my closest friend, he never stopped pursuing me and never stopped being there whenever I chose to return back to his ever-open arms, sometimes broken and scarred; sometimes angry and frustrated. Regardless of what shape I am in, or what mess I have created of my life, he welcomed me back, loving me unconditionally, wiping my tears, listening to me rant about what a failure I have been. And every single time, he whispered comfort in my ears, mended my broken heart and walked me through the process of putting all my pieces together. As believers, we’ve been given the Holy Spirit as a Helper, Teacher, Friend, and seal for the promised inheritance of eternal life with God. His presence, guidance, and wisdom in my life is my greatest gift. Through him I have access to direct connection with my Heavenly Father.

Scripture says in Romans 8:14, “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” As a child of the Most High God, I am granted full access to the leadership of the Holy Spirit who dwells within me. No child of God is exempt from the leadership of the Spirit. I know that I don’t earn access by my own merit. God has given us all the gift of the Holy Spirit because he loves us, and He wants to be with us. He has filled us with his Spirit because he longs to lead us into the abundant life that he has planned for us.

Galatians 5:25 says, “If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.” How do we “keep in step with the Spirit”? It all starts with spending time getting to know what the Holy Spirit is like. He has a personality. He has a voice. Just as you get to know a person, you can get to know the Holy Spirit. And the absolute best way to learn about him is one-on-one. It is in the secret place that we learn what his voice and leading sounds and feels like so that we can discern his guidance out in the rush and stress of the world.

As I seek the leading of the Holy Spirit by studying the Word and meditating on it, my mind is renewed to spiritual things. Renewing the mind is an important and necessary part in hearing the Spirit of God. “What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us” (1 Corinthians 2:14). I can be certain that the Spirit will never lead me into doing something that is opposite of God’s written Word. John 16:13 – says “But when He, the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come”. The Spirit and the Word always agree with each other. May the times I kneel in prayer not just be a part of my routine, but may it truly be a time when my heart, mind and soul blends in with the Holy Spirit. That I desire to visit with my Savior and spend time in communion with my Father both speaking to Him and hearing  from Him – knowing fully well that I have the undivided attention of the Creator when I spend time in prayer; being absolutely confident that I am the daughter of the King; I belong to the royal priesthood, I am a part of the Holy nation and and above all, I am God’s special possession! And when I step out to face the world, I stand tall not because of who I am but because of whose I am.
